Philosophy

PGHCC implements an Emergent Curriculum inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy. We believe children are born ready; ready to engage with their environment and all that the world has to offer; therefore children have the right to participate in and be constructors in their own learning.

Through Emergent Curriculum children are encouraged to explore, research and investigate everyday ordinary happenings that they find interesting and curious. Children's thoughts and ideas are valued and thus it allows their own curiosity to create the daily curriculum; often these questions and research lead to long term projects.

The Educators in Reggio Emilia value children as contributors and have a very clear and defined image of children. The Hundred Languages of Children, The Image of the Child and the importance of research and documentation make up the foundation for our interpretation of the Reggio Emilia Philosophy.
